Obituary of Steven Jones

A funeral service for Steven Jones, age 67, of Spencer, will be held Monday, December 16, 2019 at 1:30PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Milford. Visitation will be Sunday, December 15th from 3:00-5:00PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Abben Cancer Center in memory of Steve.

Steven James Jones, the son of Darrell and Cleone (Christofferson) Jones, was born July 17, 1952 in Milford, Iowa. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School through the 8th grade and graduated from Milford Community High School. Steve worked in the heating, cooling and plumbing service.

He enjoyed many things in life, including playing golf, playing pool and camping. He liked to find good finds at flea markets and garage sales, enjoyed woodworking in his garage, playing cribbage and had an amazing coin collection along with cast iron model cars. Steve always had a smile on his face watching his grandkids in their school activities. As we all know, Steve had the most contagious laugh and he would often get the newspaper mostly to read the comics (especially Garfield) and do the crossword puzzles.

Steve passed away December 12, 2019 at his home in Spencer, Iowa at sixty-seven years of age.

He is survived by his sons, Jeremy (Sheri) Jones of Milford, Bryan (Sarah) Jones of Milford, Kevin (Jlynn) Jones of Milford and Ian Mohr of Urbandale; special friend, Vickie Hanson; Vickie's daughters, Cassie (Jon) Nelson and Christina Hanson; Vickie's parents, Jim and Ferdonna Zimmerman; siblings, Charree (Ron) Sweeten, Darolyn (Dick) Packebush, Tim (Kymm) Jones, Jeff (Donna) Jones, Alex (Deb) Jones, Chris (Connie) Jones and Sheila (Joe) Liewer; eleven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Cleone Jones and great-grandson, Zayden Jones.
