Obituary of Viola Nordblad

A funeral service for Viola Nordblad, age 93, of West Okoboji, will be held Monday, December 23, 2019 at 2:00PM at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Burial will be at Milford Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Viola Marie Nordblad was born February 26, 1926 to Lars and Sophie Krogh near Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Ringsted Lutheran Church. After graduating from Maple Hill High School, Viola attended Cedar Falls and Buena Vista College where she received her teaching certificate. She taught seven years in country school and grade school at Lakota, Graettinger and Arnolds Park. On June 17, 1951, Viola married Nels (Art) Nordblad. Together they farmed until moving to the Lakes Region in 1975. Viola loved visiting with people and made long lasting friends working at Vacation Village and Arnolds Park and Okoboji Schools. She loved gardening, traveling and the beauty of the Lakes Region. Viola passed away December 20, 2019 at her home in West Okoboji at ninety-three years of age. She is survived by her three daughters, Linda (David) Walkinshaw, Diana (Dennis) Kies and Marcia Berry; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Nels (Art) Nordblad in 2011. A special thank you to Collette Rozeboom and Wendi Rex.
