Obituary of Jason Lake

A private burial will be held for Jason Lake, age 45, with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Jason Alan Lake was born October 17, 1974 to Lenis and Colleen (Faas) Lake in Primghar, Iowa. He was the youngest of four children. His early years were spent loving the freedom of farm life and riding his snowmobile and three wheeler through the fields. On November 10, 1984, when Jason was 10 years old, his father and sister, Shawn, died in a car accident and his life changed from farm life to lake life. He moved to Okoboji and boating, jet skis, and sailing became his passion. Jason graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1993. He then sold long term care insurance and received a degree from Apollo College in computer technology. In 2003 he was involved in a serious car accident that changed his life once again. Dealing with life as a paraplegic was very challenging and he lived life the best he could. He enjoyed fishing at Webster, SD and hunting with friends at South Fork. During this time, farming returned to his life and he loved driving the tractor until his health diminished and he could no longer do it. Jason had many friends that loved him and his family will be forever grateful for all the help and support they gave him. He will be remembered for his humor, wit, generosity, and kindness. Jason passed away on April 6, 2020, at Lakes Regional Healthcare. He is survived by his mother Colleen and stepfather Bill Barker; sister, Lisa Acton; brother, Ryan (Nicole) Lake; nephew, Tayler Acton; niece, Nicole Acton; uncle, Don (Marcia) Faas; two step- brothers, Bill Barker & Matt (Kim) Barker; one step-sister, Karin Roberts; step-nephews, Max & Zach Kruse; step-niece, Jaden Kruse; as well as other step nephews and nieces, and cousins, Angela (Dusty) Sonius and Dillon Faas. Preceding him in death were his father, Lenis; sister, Shawn; brother-in-law, Dale Acton; and grandparents Harold and Sara Lake and Donald and Pauline Faas.
