Obituary of Clayton "Butch" Van Hunnick

A private family service will be held for Clayton "Butch" Van Hunnick, age 76, of Harris .Burial will be at Union Township Cemetery in Harris. Clayton "Butch" Roger Van Hunnick, the son of John and Willemenia (Hendricks) Van Hunnick, was born October 30, 1943 in Slayton, Minnesota. On March 20, 1964, Butch was married to Emily Ransom in Bigelow, Minnesota. The family lived in Sibley, Iowa for a few years before moving to Harris, Iowa in 1970. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Harris. Butch very much enjoyed his classic cars, restoring and painting cars, car shows, auctions, driving truck and Sunday cruises. He also liked fishing, mowing and yard work. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren. Butch passed away April 12, 2020 at his home in Harris, Iowa at seventy-six years of age. He is survived by his wife, Emily Van Hunnick of Harris; five children, Dave Van Hunnick of Harris, Doug Van Hunnick of Ocheyedan, Iowa, Darcy Morphew of Hartley, Iowa, Debbie Ninow of Mankato, Minnesota and Dawn Meier of Montgomery, Minnesota; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Frakes of Luverne, Minnesota and Veronica Doherty of Adrian, Minnesota. Butch was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
