Obituary of Beth Brandt

A private family service will be held for Beth Brandt, age 94 of Lake Park. Cards or memorials in honor of Beth may be sent to the Brandt Family at 708 2nd St. SE #106, Orange City, IA 51041. Beth Jeanette (Boyer) Brandt was born in Lake Park, IA on August 24, 1925, to Fred S. and Mae D. Boyer. Beth passed away on April 29, 2020 at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City, IA. She was ninety-four years old. Beth graduated from Lake Park High School as Valedictorian of her class in 1943. Beth loved music and sports in school and this enjoyment continued throughout her whole life. On March 3, 1946, shortly after he returned from WWII service in the Pacific, Beth married Marvin E. Brandt. After living and farming with Marvin's parents for a year, Beth and Marvin moved to the Boyer farm just NW of Lake Park. Marvin farmed and Beth worked outside the home. Beth began her work life right after graduation at the Security State Bank in Lake Park. After several years, Beth left the bank and worked at the ASCS (Dept. of Agriculture) office in Spirit Lake for 11 1/2 years. She then returned to the bank and worked there until she retired at age 70. Beth greatly enjoyed her work and interacting with the many people that she worked with and served. Beth deeply loved her family and her friends and she also enjoyed attending sporting events and shopping for "pretty things"! Beth and Marvin had two sons, Barry and wife Lora (Willemssen) of Orange City, IA and Lanny and wife Cindy (Stauffer) of Elkhart, Iowa. Beth had four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren: Cory (Susan) Brandt of Rock Valley, IA and their children, Kaitlin (Mrs. Brandon VanderStoep) of Coralville, IA, Brianna (fiancé, Tyler Van Zant) of Ankeny, IA and Megan, age 15; Jennifer (Kelvin) Kaemingk of Woodbury, MN and their children Karissa (Mrs. Colton Neff) of Eagan, MN, Kyle age 21 and Kollin age 16 and foster child, Shawn Presler; Jill (Lyle) Schut of Sioux Center, IA and their children Carly, age 20, Cole age 16 and Cora, age 13; Amy (Roger) Perling of Altoona, IA and their children, Danica, age 7 and Brant, age 6. Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; parents, Fred and Mae Boyer; brothers, Bob and wife Edith, Bill and wife Shirley and Bruce and wife Shirley; sister, Barbara Untiedt; brothers-in-law, Frank Shierholt, Ariel Carlson and Jules Untiedt. Her sisters, Betty Carlson and Becky Schierholt and numerous nieces and nephews remain to mourn her passing. Beth was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park. She served in the positions of Elder and Deacon, a member of the choir and women's small groups. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Lake Park Historical Society and various card clubs over her life. She loved her many friends and family and enjoyed life. "To God be the glory"!
