Obituary of Clare Ackroyd

A visitation for Clare Ackroyd, age 56, of Spirit Lake, will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2020 from 3:00-6:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Due to the current health concerns, those attending will be required to wear a mask.

Clare Ackroyd, the daughter of Michael and Sheila Devaney, was born October 27, 1964 in Stoke-On-Trent, England.

 
On May 27, 1988, Clare was married to Ian Ackroyd in Wymeswold, England. They lived in various places including Rattlesden, England, Winfarthing, England and Maxton, North Carolina before moving to Spirit Lake, Iowa in 2002.

Clare loved riding horses with her daughter, Cathy and her friends. She enjoyed taking the dogs on walks, being outside in the nice weather, spending time with all the cats and meeting up and spending time with great friends.

 
Clare worked as a EHSS Specialist and was a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club, Wissota Appaloosa Horse Club and the Estherville Saddle Club.

Clare passed away December 5, 2020 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at fifty-six years of age.

She is survived by her husband, Ian Ackroyd; daughter, Cathy Ackroyd and Cody Davis; parents, Sheila and Michael Devaney; brothers, David and Debbie Devaney and Simon and Victoria Devaney.
