I have many memories of Leona as our families shared many fun times together: card-playing, showing purebred cattle at Midwest fairs, church events, and sharing the demands of rural lifestyle and growing families. Leona will always be remembered for her smile and positive personality, her helpful hands and comforting heart. She was always at the ready as Mother’s BFF and the best cheerleader for our family. Sheryl, Ivan, and their families are in my prayers knowing I have much gratitude for Leona and all she and Merle shared with my family. Marty Lloyd Moore

Sending my Love and Sympathy on the loss of Leona. I remember Merle and Leona very well as they were big supporters of ads in the Lakes News Shopper and I was a part time employee at that time and so enjoyed working with them both. Leona always brought joy into others. May you hang onto the wonderful memories of both of your parents.

Keith and I moved in across the street from Merle and Leona in August of 1992. They were the best neighbors. Then we started a family. Merle and Leona came to every birthday for my girls.
The relationship we had with Leona sparked joy in our lives ever since then. She always cared for my girls. Brought us goodies and soup many times when my kids growing up.
We learned so much from Leona. She was such a very special friend, neighbor and sometimes seemed more like a mom.
She was the best!! I will miss her bubbly personality.
She always made me smile and feel good! I will miss her dearly.

Leona was quite the gal. Always a positive attitude. Loved to play card games. I enjoyed helping take care of her at home a few years back. I always thought she had nine lives. She made it through some every tough times.

I'm sadden to learn the passing of my Sunday school teacher. I learned a lot from my friend. She knew how much I had also wanted our church bell, at my moms funeral she showed me she had it moved to the Methodist church in Spirit Lake. I'm so happy I stopped and had a chance to visit with her. We showed her great grandchildren how to build a church with our fingers, which she taught us in Sunday school so many years ago and to play Simple Simon Says. I loved her she always had a smile for me thank you for taking her in and letting her live with you and your family that meant a lot to me. God be with you.
