Obituary of Verne Stinehart

A graveside service for Verne Stinehart of Spencer, Iowa will be held at 2PM on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, Iowa.

Luverne Dale Stinehart was born on October 1, 1935, in Milford, Iowa, to Roland and Gladys (Morgan) Stinehart. Verne passed away on January 2, 2024, at Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa at eighty-eight years of age.

Verne was united in marriage to Beverly Tercey on September 27, 1982, in Kansas City, Missouri. He dedicated several years of his life to the Spencer City Street Department, ultimately retiring from his service there.

Among his passions, Verne cherished horses, the thrill of racing and was an avid supporter of Steelers football. He found joy in simple pleasures such as card games, particularly pinochle, and leisurely drives around the Lakes Area. His bond with his close friend, Tracy, mirrored brotherhood, and they shared many cherished moments together.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories and is survived by his sister, Gloria Riedeman; his children, Joe Tercey, Dennis Tercey, Sherri Wiekum, Jodey Stinehart, Kenneth Stinehart, Crealetta Mitchel and Bette Vetter; along with nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Verne was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters, step-son Michael Tercey and his beloved wife, Beverly Stinehart.
