Obituary of Mason Vermaine Newgard
Mason Vermaine Newgard was born June 23, 1942 to Oswald and Eulallah Mason Newgard at Ruthven.
He was married to Nancy Sorenson and to this marriage was born one son, Kory. On December 31, 1981 Mason and Diane Cleary Robeson were married at Emmetsburg, Iowa. They became the parents of a son, Chris.
As a young man Mason was a professional wrestler known as Dr. X. He wrestled many well known professionals throughout the Midwest. He also was a rodeo bull rider and did chuck wagon races. Other interests were singing, fishing, hunting and Prison Ministry in Sioux Falls. Mason drove truck and farmed most of his working life.
Mason lived in Ruthven many years, moved to Lawrenceburg, TN, then in 1994, moved to Graettinger.
Mason died September 15 at Graettinger.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Diane; 2 sons, Kory Newgard and wife, Alicia, of Everly and Chris Newgard of Lewisburg, TN; 3 step-sons, Bill, Jeff and Rob Robeson and their wives, all of Tennessee; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; aunt, Maerene Mason of Spencer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oswald Newgard and mother, Eulallah Larimer; sister, Loyse Smith and nephew, Scott Mason.
