Obituary of Donald Meyer

Donald Lee Meyer was born June 29, 1941, the son of Lawrence and Alice (Dau) Meyer at Whittemore, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Whittemore. Upon graduation, Don attended Iowa State University, where he obtained his Business degree. On April 12, 1964, Don was united in marriage to Lorraine Ellen Butzke in Whittemore. Through his work as an accountant, the couple made their home in Waukegan, IL, Mesa and Scottsdale, Arizona before moving to Altoona, Iowa. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Arnolds Park in 2003. Don was a member of First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji, Iowa. He enjoyed boating and the Okoboji Lakes. He coached and supported his sons' athletic activities and was an avid Cyclone football fan. Don's prized possession was a restored 1961 VW Dune Buggy Don passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at Milford Nursing Center in Milford, Iowa at seventy years of age. Left to survive are his wife, Lorraine; sons, Brent Meyer and his wife Stephanie; and Brad Meyer and his wife Angie; grandchildren, Gracie, Rylie and Brecken; sisters, Mary (Burrell) Oliver , LuAnn (Dean) Hanson and JoAnne (Bryan) Meyer; brothers, Dean (Diane) Meyer, and Dennis (Kay) Meyer; brother-in-law, Milt (Ann) Butke; several nieces and nephews and friends. Memorials can be given to Lakes Regional Healthcare Foundation or the First Lutheran Church Education Wing.
