Obituary of LaVonne Foote

LaVonne Foote was born April 20, 1916 in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Mable (Doan) Van Buskirk. On April 12, 1936, LaVonne was united in marriage to Dale Foote. Dale operated a jewelry store in Paullina from 1936 to 1969 and LaVonne owned and operated the Paullina Dress Shoppe for twenty years. LaVonne and Dale moved to Big Spirit Lake in 1969 and in 1982, Dale passed away. Known as the "Bird Lady of the Lakes", LaVonne was a charter member of the Northern Iowa Prairie Chapter of the Audubon Society, since 1978. She loved the outdoors, and was an avid bird watcher. LaVonne passed away July 3, 2010 at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa at ninety-four years of age. She is survived by three nephews, David Van Buskirk and his wife Charlotte of Corsicana, Texas, Ralph Hogancamp and his wife Sandy of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Robert Hogancamp, also of Minneapolis, Minnesota; as well as numerous great nephews and nieces. LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; brother, Lorin and sister, Lois.
