Obituary of Charlotte Thomson
Charlotte was born and raised on the Zerfoss family farm north of Superior, on the shore of Little Swan Lake. She went to North Superior School, graduated from Superior High School, then attended one year of Junior College in Estherville. She married Kenneth E Thomson December 29, 1938. Their four girls were also raised on the Zerfoss farm.
She helped Kenneth on the farm, raised chickens, baked (bread and pies were her specialties), and made all of the girls' clothes.
Charlotte was active in the Superior Methodist Church where she played the piano for Sunday services and special events. She was a member of the Methodist Ladies Aid and the Superior Cemetery Society.
In 1974 she and Kenneth sold the Zerfoss farm and moved to Superior. Kenneth died in 1988, and after a few years Charlotte moved to an apartment in Spirit Lake. In 2008 she moved to Keelson Harbour assisted living.
After her retirement in 1974, she spent much of her free time engaged in handwork, including quilting, crocheting, and hardanger.
Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Janet Baker of Tampa, FL, Dorothy Worthington and husband, Bob, of Minnetonka, MN, and Ruth Petersen of Spirit Lake, IA, and twelve grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; a brother, Donald; her daughter, Mary Thomson Allen; a son-in-law, Jim Petersen and her parents, Judd and Flossie Zerfoss.
