Obituary of Delbert Christopherson

Delbert Christopherson was born August 6, 1925 in Lakeville Township, Iowa, the son of Swen and Pearl Christopherson. He was a graduate of Milford High School. He lived in Romeoville, Illinois and Reno, Nevada before moving to Milford, Iowa in 1966. He is a member of the First Lutheran Church in Milford and a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed reading, traveling, intricate woodworking and playing organ. He also liked to fish, bake and dance (polka). Delbert was a good provider and loving father and grandfather. He took special pride in his grandchildren and encouraged them to surpass what they thought they could do. He took great care of his mother for twenty years after the passing of his father, even to the extent of buying a motor home and taking her to visit her granddaughter, Carla, in Florida as well as visiting other family members. Delbert loved to bake pies and always baked extra to give to friends and neighbors. His favorite pies were strawberry-rhubarb and baked apple. Delbert passed away July 9, 2010 at the Lake Park Care Center in Lake Park, Iowa at eighty-five years of age. He is survived by his sister, Ella Quaintance of Melvin, Iowa; daughters, Beverly Santana of Illinois, Cindy Goldbeck of Butler, Wisconsin, Ilene Cresap of Lowell, Indiana and Carla Hale of Scottsville, Kentucky; son, Chris Christopherson of Cortland, Illinois; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Darlene Faulkner.
