Obituary of Dale Blunt

Celebration of Life Services for Dale and Eileen Blunt will be 11 am, Monday, February 10, 2014, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Terril, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 4 pm Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford, with the family present from 4 - 6 pm. Dale Miner Blunt, the son of Olive (Miner) and Clyde Blunt, was born February 27, 1928 in Milford, Iowa. On December 23, 1951, Dale married Eileen Margene Swartz in Terril, Iowa. For four years, the couple lived on a farm northeast of Terril. They then moved to Gnadenhutten, Ohio for three years until they moved back to Terril. At that time, Dale began working at the Spencer Packing Plant, where he worked for sixteen years until it closed. He worked some construction before beginning his job as custodian at the Terril Community School. After fourteen years, he retired in order to enjoy his family and all of their activities. In his spare time, Dale also enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Minnesota Twins. Dale passed away January 21, 2014 at Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer, Iowa at eighty-five years of age. He is survived by his wife, Eileen (Swartz) Blunt; three daughters, LaDonna (Steve) Hansen, Marlena (Leonard) Langner and Beth (Dale) Miller; six grandchildren, Eric Hansen, Emily Ostert, Ross Hansen, Corey Langner, Abbey Moomaw and Alex Langner; eight great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandsons Brad, Brian and Scott Miller; one brother, Von (Sue) Blunt; one sister, Doris Arthur; and numerous loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Olive Blunt; grandson, Clint Miller; brothers, Arthur (Dawn) Blunt and Howard Blunt; sisters, Eleanor (Dale) Upward and Gladys Blunt; and brother-in-law, Jack Arthur.
