Obituary of Lola Belle Flint
Services for Lola Belle Flint, 94, of Spirit Lake and formerly of Excelsior Township, will be 2 pm, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at United Methodist Church in Lake Park.
Visitation will begin at 1 pm until service time.
Interment will be at Westport Cemetery.
Lola Belle Flint, the daughter of Leda (Lawson) and Lee Yager, was born February 11, 1919 in Excelsior Township, rural Lake Park, Iowa. She graduated from Excelsior High School in 1936.
On September 22, 1940, Lola married Marion Albert Flint at her home in Excelsior Township. The couple lived on their family farm until 1980 when they moved to their lakeshore home in Lake Park after retirement.
Lola was a lifetime member of the Excelsior Methodist church and was an active with the church women and as a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the 4H club in the 1930's and was a 4H leader in the 1940's. She served as the PTA president and was involved in the Westport Women's Club, Excelsior School Band Boosters, School Kitchen Band, Practical Pleasure Club in Lake Park and the Ladies Birthday Club of Westport Township.
Lola will be remembered by many for her beautiful flower arrangements made for her church and friends. She loved gardening and canning which she shared with her family and friends. Her great-grandchildren were especially blessed with scrapbooks that she put together for them.
Lola passed away February 3, 2014 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa at ninety-four years of age.
She was survived by her daughter, Anita Early (Steve) of Spirit Lake, son, Merlin (Pat) Flint of Glendale, Arizona; grandchildren, Shari (Jim) Weideman, Bill (Carmen) Heikens, Tim (Kristin) Heikens, Amiee Flint, Toni Flint, and Cory Flint; great-grandchildren, Ashley Heikens (special friend, Joe Geyerman), Lacey (Trevor) Johnson, Shayla (Mike) Marchesi, Casey Early, Dakota (Morgan) Flint, Maddisan Flint, Lawson Flint, Zach Heikens, McKenzie Heikens, Alex Heikens and Jaxson Heikens; brothers, Melvin Yager, Earl (Alice) Yager and Merle (Lorraine) Yager; several nieces and nephews.
Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Marion; brother, Howard Yager and sister, Fern Sanders.
