Obituary of Jay Lighter

Jay Lighter, Jr. was born April 12, 1938 in Spencer, Iowa, the son of Jay H. Lighter, Sr. and Ethel E. Hollesen Lighter. He graduated from Milford High School. On September 26, 1963, Jay was united in marriage to Charlene Rae Simpson in Terril, Iowa. He lived in Sacred Heart, Minnesota before moving to Milford, Iowa. Jay worked at Style Craft Furniture for twenty-six years. After retirement, he enjoyed his part-time job as a greeter at Wal-Mart. Jay loved being with his family and friends. He enjoyed all the activities at Arnolds Park, gardening and the outdoors. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Milford, Iowa. Jay passed away on March 30, 2009 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at seventy years of age. He is survived by his wife, Charlene Lighter of Milford; mother, Ethel Lighter of Milford; daughters, Susan Gould and her husband, Rick, Michelle Allen and her husband, Troy; grandchildren, Ashlee and Spenser Allen and Samantha Gould, all of Olathe, Kansas and Alex Gould of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jay H. Lighter, Sr. and his grandparents.
