Obituary of June Evans

Amanda June Evans was born June 11, 1925 in Montgomery, Iowa the daughter of Michael and Stella (Webb) Albert. She was raised and educated in the area, graduating from Spirit Lake, High School in 1943. Following high school, June attended and graduated from Iowa State University. Following a short time in Philadelphia, June returned to the area and was united in marriage to Rae A. Evans on June 8, 1952 in Montgomery. The couple made their home in Marshalltown until moving to Spirit Lake in 1970. Rae and June owned and operated Evans Clothing Store in Spirit Lake for many years. June was a member of the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake, where she was involved in Circle. She was an active member of PEO Chapter BE, as well as LBU. She enjoyed walking with friends, spending time with grandchildren and playing bridge. June passed away Monday, January 26, 2009 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at eighty-three years of age. She is survived by her daughters, Sara Balm (Stephen) of Spirit Lake, Mary Pedersen (Mike) of Alta, Iowa; son, Dave Evans and special friend Patti Rumpf of Des Moines, Iowa. Also surviving are grandchildren, Angie Ahlgren (Jeremy), Alisa Oliver (Ben), Aaron Balm, Leah Harms (Tyler), Adam Pedersen, Ryan Evans, Carly Evans (fiancé, Jacob Flaws); sister Edythe Cawood of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, niece Carmen Maynard (Arnold) and nephew, Jay Ford (Terri); and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Rae, parents, Mike and Stella Albert, sister, Josephine Ford and nephew, Michael Ford.
