Obituary of William J. Fuller
William J. "Bill" Fuller, 82, of Lake Okoboji, died a peaceful death on Friday, December 5, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday, December 10, at the First Lutheran Church in Milford, preceded by a visitation at 10am. Pastor Bob Vaage will be in charge of services with burial in the Lakeview Gardens in Okoboji.
Bill was born June 30, 1926 at Spencer, the son of William J. and Florence Fuller. The family moved to Algona when Bill was in the fourth grade. He attended the Algona schools, graduating in 1944.
After a year at Iowa State University, he served one year in the United States Army. After discharge, he returned to ISU and later graduated from Drake University in 1950 with a degree in Commerce. He was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity while in college.
On September 3, 1950, he was married to Donna Peterson in Fort Dodge. Following a recall to service during the Korean War he joined Don Peterson Photos, a family owned business, in 1951.
During his years in Fort Dodge, Bill was active in community affairs, serving on the Fort Dodge Board of the Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Rotary club for a number of years. He also served as President of the Iowa Photographers Assn. and later as President of the Tri State Photographer's Assn.
After retirement, Bill and his wife remained in Fort Dodge until 1988 when they moved to Lake Okoboji, wintering in Naples, Florida. Bill's two great loves, besides his family, were golfing, which he started at a very young age and flying.
Bill is survived by his wife Donna and three daughters: Krista Fuller of Seattle, Washington; Jennie Pantano of Auckland, New Zealand; and Kim and Tom Supercynski of Nevada, Iowa. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Abbey and AJ Pantano and Nic and Amanda Supercynski. One sister, Enid Coors of Palos Verdes, CA, also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and William J. Fuller, Sr., and one sister, Marilyn Shroyer.
He will be missed dearly by all his family and friends.
The family requests memorials be directed to the Lakes Regional Home Care and Hospice or the First Lutheran Church.
