Obituary of Anna Evans
MILFORD, IOWA Funeral services for Anna Jean Evans, 87, of Milford will be held Monday, October 20, 2008 at First Lutheran Church in Milford. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Battle Creek, Iowa at 3:00 PM Monday. Arrangements are under the direction of Turner Funeral Home in Milford, Iowa.
Anna Jean Evans was born on July 30, 1921 in Battle Creek, Iowa to David and Jean (Susie) Watson. She attended the rural schools of Ida County and Battle Creek High School, graduating in 1939. She also graduated from Alexandria Technical School in 1967 with a certificate in bookkeeping.
She married Eldon Evans in Dakota City, Nebraska, on November 7, 1942. They were blessed with seven children, four sons and three daughters. Anna Jean and Eldon farmed near Kingsley and Moville, Iowa before moving to Miltona, Minnesota, where they became involved in the creamery business. She was employed for the five years by the Carlos Coop Creamery as a bookkeeper. Later, Anna Jean and Eldon moved to Sioux Valley, Minnesota where, for ten years, she was a bookkeeper for the Sioux Valley Coop Creamery. They then retired from the creamery business and moved to Milford, Iowa where she worked for the Milford Nursing Center for eight and a half years. Anna Jean and Eldon were married for forty-four years before Eldon's death on August 10, 1987.
Anna Jean was an active member of the Milford community. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Milford Legion Auxiliary, Volunteers in Action and Meals on Wheels. She was also an avid volunteer at the Milford Nursing Center. She enjoyed needlework, card playing, gardening and baking.
Anna Jean passed away on October 17, 2008 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at eighty-seven years of age.
Anna Jean is survived by her seven children, Karlyn (Paul) Pulst, Arvada, CO, Linda Evans, Minneapolis, MN, Richard Evans, San Diego, CA, Rodney Evans (Maria Rosa), San Diego, CA, Gwen (Marek) Bijan, Portland, OR, Kevin (Margaret) Evans, Montevideo, MN, Bryan (Mary) Evans, Fort Worth, TX; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-step grandson; nieces, nephews, cousins; sisters-in-law, Alberta Watson, Myra Bell, Florence Evans; brother-in-law, Earl Evans; an aunt and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eldon; her parents and two brothers, Clarence and Melvin.
