Obituary of Marie Petersen

Marie Laurel Petersen was born on June 6, 1941, to Earl and Laura Mortland. She graduated from Estherville High School in 1959. She married Robert (Bob) Knox in August of 1958 while she was still in high school. They had two (2) children, Randy, born in 1960 and Kristi, born in 1963. Marie worked at many different doctors' offices in her life. In July of 1992, she married Duane Petersen from Terril. She loved to garden, quilt, and make things for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marie died as a result of a car accident April 17, 2013, she was 71years of age. She is survived by her daughter, Kristi of Sherburn, MN; step-children, Mary (Ron) Bezdicek of Jackson, Minnesota, Judy (John) Swiech of Prospect Heights, Illinois and John Petersen of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Ashley and Ryan Behne of Sherburn, Leah Knox and Fiancé Dave Sole of Winter Springs, Florida and Lindsay Knox of Casselberry, Florida; step-grandchildren, Tyler and Megan Bezdicek and Katherine, Joseph and Margaret Swiech; great-grandchildren, Claira and Carter; sister, Marge Haneline of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; brothers, Merle Mortland, of Irving, Texas, Roger Mortland of Forhy, Texas, Lee Mortland of Missouri, and Dale Mortland of Estherville, Iowa; step-sister, Mary Wells of Iowa City, Iowa and step-brother, Roger (Mina) Petersen of Newport, Kentucky; also many nieces and nephews. Preceding her death were her parents, and son Randy.
