Obituary of Geneva Timm
Geneva Mae Kuehl Timm was born May 21, 1920 in Sioux Valley Township, Jackson County, Minnesota, the daughter of Michael J. and Helen (Bamsey) Karnis. She was raised and educated in the Sioux Valley area, graduating from Sioux Valley School. She then attended and graduated from Mankato Commercial College.
On September 12, 1940, Geneva was united in marriage to Leslie Kuehl in Canton, South Dakota. They made their home in Sioux Valley, where they farmed and raised their family. She continued farming after Leslie's death from Multiple Sclerosis in 1960. She married Raymond Timm in 1965 at Lake Park, Iowa. Upon retirement, they lived in Lakefield, Minnesota until his death in 1996. She lived in Lake Park for eight years until entering Crossroads Care Center in 2004.
Geneva was a member of the Lake Park United Methodist Church, where she was active in the UMW. She was very active in the Sioux Valley 4-H Club, P.T.A, Band Parents and other organizations that supported music, academics and sports for her family. She was also a member and officer of the local AMVETS Society, Human Services Advisory Board and Sioux Valley Cemetery Society. She loved to bake, sew, play piano, had a "green thumb" with plants and loved her "very own" Oliver tractor.
Geneva passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Crossroads Care Center in Worthington, Minnesota at eighty-eight years of age.
She is survived by her six children, Gwendolyn Anderson of Owatonna, MN, Donald Kuehl (Patricia) of St. Peter, MN, Douglas Kuehl (Kathy Stoltz Kuehl) of Westlake Village, CA, Virginia Wiese (Joel) of Round Lake, MN, Duane Kuehl (Barbara) of Murray, UT, and Bruce Kuehl (Kathy) of Covina, CA. She is also survived by brother, Eugene Karnis (Twyla), sister, Shirley Beck, sister-in-law, Anne Marie Karnis, eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother, Michael V. Karnis, sister, Myrna Jorth and son-in-law, John Anderson.
