Obituary of Theodore N. Frederick
Theodore Nicholas Frederick was born July 30, 1918 in Ashton, Iowa to Bill and Anna Frederick, the only child of this marriage. He lost his mother at a young age. When his dad was ready to marry again, he asked Ted which woman would you like to be your mother, Ted said, "Mary, she is a sweet lady." Five children were born to this union.
Ted lived his life in Ashton, until 1943, when he joined the Army Air Corps. The same year he married Dorothy Landwehr and moved to Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, Arizona. The couple moved to Sioux City, Iowa after his military service in 1945, where Ted joined Montgomery Ward. They moved to Milford in 1950 to venture into their own business, The Coast to Coast Hardware Store. Ted and Dorothy owned and operated the store to this day. The dedicated employees and Frederick children made this possible through out the years. Ted will miss everyone in the Milford community.
Ted was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford, where he was involved in Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Milford Commercial Club and the American Legion. Ted enjoyed being involved in the operation of his store, spending many hours on bookwork. Ted loved to tell stories, especially about the "boot legging days" with his father.
Ted passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Milford Nursing Center in Milford at eighty-nine years of age.
Left to remember his laugh and stories are his children, Bill Frederick (Yvonne) of Milwaukee, WI, Mike Frederick of Worcester, Massachusetts, Kathy Frederick of Des Moines, Iowa; Pat Frederick of Milford and Cindy Frederick of Milford; grandchildren, Todd, Lisa, Brian, Adam and Jonathon Frederick; great-grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Jacob and Alexander; sisters, Mary Ann Streit and Janie Wilson. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Dorothy, father, William, mothers, Anna and Mary, brothers, Billy, James and Lee Frederick. Ted's second family was the wonderful staff at Milford Nursing Center, where Ted resided for the last two and a half years.
The 90th birthday party of "Teddy" will officially be held in Heaven.
