Obituary of Marian Lacey

Marian Lorena Lacey was born September 27, 1905 in Spencer, Iowa, the daughter of Morris and Mary McGuire Lacey. The family resided in Clay County until 1912, when they moved to a farm southwest of Kiester, Minnesota in Winnebago County. In 1914, the family moved to Dickinson County to a farm southwest of Milford. In September, 1916, her parents purchased a farm 4 3/4 miles northwest of Milford. On March 1, 1917, her parents, brother, Howard, and Marian moved to the farm. Marian and Howard attended schools southwest of Kiester, southwest of Milford across from the Little Sioux Lutheran Church as well as the St. Joseph Catholic School. She graduated from Milford High in 1925 with a Normal Training Course. She taught for nine years. Marian assisted her brother, Howard, with livestock and the farming operation, retiring in 1973. After Howard passed away on February 17, 1985, Marian continued to live on the home place. Marian moved into Milford in 1996 and later became a resident of the Milford Care Center in 1999. Marian enjoyed yard work, flowers, reading and having coffee with friends. She also enjoyed taking trips with her friends. Marian passed away on March 27, 2008 at the Milford Care Center at one hundred two years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Mary Lacey and her brother, Howard Lacey.
