Obituary of Mildred F. Groff
Mildred Frances Groff was born May 8, 1918 in Dickens, Iowa the daughter of Robert B. and Verna (Wilson) Taylor. She was raised and educated in rural Lake Park, graduating from Excelsior Consolidated School in 1934. Mildred worked as a bookkeeper at Glen Hall Chevrolet in Spirit Lake.
On September 21, 1941, she was united in marriage to Leslie Groff. They lived on the farm SW of Lake Park until moving to town in 1969.
Mildred was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lake Park, United Methodist Women, Farm Bureau, Excelsior Federated Women's Club and Practical Pleasure Club. She enjoyed sewing, baking, photography and music.
Mildred passed away Friday, January 25, 2008 at Lakes Regional Health Care in Spirit Lake at eighty-nine years of age.
She is survived by her children, Judy Taber and her husband Gary of Lake Park and Wayne Groff and his wife, Becky of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grand-daughters, Lisa Niswander, Joanna Nohr and her husband Derek and Jennifer Ardat and her husband Maher; great-granddaughter, Emma Niswander; brothers, Orville Taylor and his wife, Betty and Glen Taylor and his wife Marylee; sister, Marie Wells.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leslie, brothers, Howard and Dale; grandsons, Brian and Bradley Taber.
