Obituary of George C.. Hoyt
George C. Hoyt was born March 7, 1925 at Missouri Valley, Iowa to David Fletcher Hoyt and Sadie (Sims) Hoyt. A World War II veteran, he served in the U. S. Navy from 1943 until the end of the war.
On April 21, 1948 he was married to Rosalie Duhn at Graettinger, Iowa. George worked for John Morrell Co. in Estherville for 10 years, owned a meat locker in Ringsted for several years, was employed for 29 years at Spencer Foods, then owned and operated George's Can and Bottle Redemption Center in Milford, Iowa until retirement.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford and a 61 year member of the American Legion. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.
George died Wednesday, September 12 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls.
He is survived by his wife Rosalie; son, Michael Hoyt and wife, Dianne, of Spencer and their children, Andrew and Jennifer Hoyt; daughter, Marilyn Napp of Ft. Dodge and her children, David Napp and wife, Cristy, and Carl Napp; daughter, Marcia Gamble and husband, Marvin, of Vermillion, SD and their children, Mark and wife, Valerie, Timothy and William Gamble; son, Martin Hoyt of Spencer; and daughter, Marie Johnson and husband, Tom, of Spencer and their children, Heather Dean and husband, Mike, and Jessica Johnson. There are six great grandchildren, Adam, Noah and Mara Napp and Anthony, Hayden and Emmalie Gamble. He is also survived by two sisters, Dona Dahlberg of Estherville, Iowa and Dema Janssen of Algona, Iowa and many friends and family.
George was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Gwendolyn Stueve, son, Mervin and son-in-law, Lorn Napp.
