Obituary of Esther Thuente

Esther Margarite Catherine Thuente was born to John and Bertha (Lechtenberg) Thuente in Calmar, IA on July 26, 1927. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1945. She worked in a bank for several years before entering nursing school at Creighton St. Catherine's Hospital, graduating in 1951. She worked in surgery at St. Anne's Hospital in Algona, Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, Denver and Omaha. She also worked at MHI in Cherokee. Esther moved to Spirit Lake after retiring in 1982 due to poor health. Esther passed away at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, IA on August 7, 2007 at eighty years of age. She is survived by her sister, Jacquelin Sangwin of Milford, IA, sister-in-law, Ruth Thuente of Algona; two nephews, John Sangwin and Gerald Thuente; four nieces, Kimberly Thuente, JoAnn Duben, Lynn Thuente and Susan Reuland and her husband Thomas; three great-neices and one great-nephew; three aunts, Odelia Cremer and her husband Leander, Rita Bodensteiner and her husband Linus and Phyllis Lechtenberg; uncle, Andrew Hemesath; many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Gerald Thuente Sr. and one infant nephew.
