Obituary of Alyce Dingel
Memorial Services will be 2 pm on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at United Methodist Church in Terril. Interment services will be prior to the service at Fairview Cemetery in Terril.
There will be a time of fellowship following the service in the church basement.
Alyce Mae Dingel, 90, was born April 14, 1922, the first of three children of Michael and Carolyn (Williamson) Maranell in Hartley, Iowa. She graduated from Sanborn High School in 1939 marrying Kenneth Ray Dingel at Sheldon, Iowa on August 14th of that year. They celebrated their 72nd anniversary shortly before Kenneth passed away on August 25, 2011.
Alyce was a member of the Terril United Methodist Church holding offices in the United Methodist Women at the local and district level, working with Bible School, acting as Sunday School Superintendent, participating in the Christian Women's Club, and attending the yearly School of Missions. She was also active in the Farm Bureau Women, Semper Fidelis, Eastern Star, the Porkettes, serving as 4H leader, Handicap Haven Board, County Past Matrons, Loyal Friends Club, and Zeta Betas.
Alyce really enjoyed life. She enjoyed crafts of any nature, sewing, knitting, photo development and painting. She and Ken loved square dancing traveling all over with a square dancing group and she would make colorful dresses and matching shirts for Ken. She loved entertaining, card parties with a close group of lifetime friends, going to the Okoboji Summer Theatre, playing bridge, and even trying her hand at golf when wintering in McAllen, Texas. She took a few classes and taught herself oil painting which became a great part of her life, teaching oil painting classes in Texas and leaving many treasured paintings in the home of her children and grandchildren.
Alyce had a deep love for her many grandchildren cherishing her time with each and every one of them. She had a long, active, wonderful life and will be deeply missed by her family, her grandchildren and many friends.
Alyce passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Hilltop Nursing Home. She is survived by her four children: Diane Trojahn, Milford; David (Linda) Dingel, Terril; Douglas (Teri) Dingel, Terril; Deborah (Tom) Johnson, Arnolds Park; 10 Grandchildren; 30 Great Grandchildren, and 12 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, grandson Thomas, son-in-law Orlin, sister Edyth, and brother Gary.
