Obituary of Lucille Johnson
Lucille Harriet (Thuirer) Johnson, daughter of Leland and Pearl (Randolph) Thuirer, was born May 2, 1923 in Spencer, IA. She attended and graduated from Spencer High School in 1941. On June 2, 1945, Lou was united in marriage to Everett L. Johnson. They farmed and lived both south and west of Milford until they moved to town in 1987. Lou and Everett enjoyed traveling by motor home and spent many winters in Mission, Texas.
Lou's family was her joy in life; she was always interested in what all of the kids were doing and attended any event that her children and grandchildren participated in. She was also fortunate to be able to attend some of her great grandchildren's events as well.
Lou was a member of Union Memorial Church. In her free time, she enjoyed spending many hours at her computer checking for and sending the latest jokes by email, playing solitaire, or checking Facebook. She loved her coffee and Saturday morning breakfasts with her girlfriends, enjoying good conversation and playing the card game, "Hand & Foot", on a regular basis. Lou had a love of sports and enjoyed following her favorite teams, especially the South Dakota State Jackrabbits; traveling to Brookings, SD to watch her grandson play basketball was a special time for her. She also enjoyed keeping up with local events by listening to the police scanner and always knew what was going on around town.
She was a very kindhearted person and had a great sense of humor; she was always a good sport with the many pranks pulled on her by her husband and grandchildren.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Orville Johnson.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 67 yrs, 3 children-Linda (Vince) Bronson, Bruce (Marline) Johnson, Deanna (Mark) Anderson. Grand children- Chad Naatjes, Ryan (Michelle) Naatjes, Amber (Ross) Kooiker, Travis (Juli) Johnson, Brooke (Eric) Taylor, Will (Danielle Stelpflug) Johnson, Lydia Anderson, Leah Anderson. 11 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great great Grandchildren, Sister-Margaret (Bob) Twist, Sister-in-law Lura Johnson, and nieces and nephews
