I remember Mardella and her daughter Bonnie coming into the Wharf when I worked there. She was quite the character with all her stories about the casinos. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time....but know that someday you will be reunited.

Dear Jim, Bonnie and Beverly,
Hi cousin's..haven't seen you in years but have thought of you often through the years. Your Mother was one of my favorite Aunt's.I read one of the tributes to your Mother and your friend talked about the popcorn and milk!! That must have been a Meister "thing", her sister Dorothy has always done the same thing... My thoughts and prayers are with all of you...
If you ever make it to Florida, please come to visit!!!
We moved away from Iowa along time ago. Wish we could have been more close. Alway's loved Aunt Mardelle!!

My husband and I got to know Mardella when we took communion to the nursing center. She was always gracious and grateful. Last time we saw her she was able to walk to mass and we we so happy to see that! She was alert and lively and talkative, and we certainly enjoyed her presence that day. We are away now and can't be there with you, but Mardella and her family are certainly in our prayers.

Mardelle and Linus & kids lived across the street from me while I grew up. Bev was/is one of my very good friends so I was over at their house ALOT! My 1st sleep over was at Bev's house. Things I remember about Mardelle are she never let Bev help clean house so Bev was always willing to help my mom and I clean and I was MORE than willing to let her! Mardelle always added milk to her popcorn and she made that popcorn in a cast iron skillet! Never had seen that before. Mardelle would give us a ride to school sometimes and always listened to the local radio station KCIM...hated that station at my young age, all country twang! Mardelle had a TON of Avon bottles in their living room and she had a silver, fake xmas tree with a colored wheel that sat on the floor and spinned to make the tree turn different colors. She loved to go trucking w/Linus but her little legs were so short, her ankles would swell. :( I haven't seen any one in the Roth family for many, many years but that doesn't mean I haven't thought about them. It's always sad to lose a parent, but it's also sad for me...I'm very sad for the family. Not sure I'll make it to Milford but I'll sure be thinking of you all!! Love you guys!!

I am sorry to hear of Mardella's passing. Recently, I had visited with her at the nursing center, but the best memories that I have of her was when she was a waitress at the Red Rooster! She was always so friendly and lively! Like any waitress...she could easily get confused....but could make a situation humorous! Those were the good old days....
