Obituary of Raymond Egan

Raymond Francis Egan was born May 13, 1933 in Ellsworth, Minnesota to Elmer and Margret Egan. He graduated from high school and married Diana Cecil on January 7, 1961 in Des Moines, Iowa. Ray served his country in the US Army. He was employed by Rock Island Railroad, insurance sales, bail bondsman and a chicken farmer. He lived in West Bend, Iowa, Algona, Iowa, Marion, Iowa and Spirit Lake, Iowa since 1995. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Knights of Columbus. Ray's hobbies included karate, obtaining his pilot's license, fire arms, hunting and he loved to sing. He was a born again Christian, loved classical and contemporary Christian music, golf, Hawkeyes football team and Notre Dame College football. He was active in the Knights of Columbus. His favorite question was "How's your love life?" He is survived by his children, Teresa (Terry) Abbas, Robert (Laura) Egan, David Egan, Lisa Egan, Jeffery (Lori) Egan; 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; Patricia (Frank)Lopez, Monsignor Eugene Egan, Ruth McCarville, Jerry (Joan) Egan; numerous nieces and nephews; and "his girls" - two pet dogs, Maggie and Minnie. Ray was preceded in death by a son, John Patrick; wife, Diana Egan and sister, Mary Clare Fischniech.
