Obituary of Wanda Farnes

A funeral service for Wanda Farnes, 82, of Spirit Lake, will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.

Visitation will begin at 5 pm, Tuesday, November 5, 2019, with the family present from 5-7 pm, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.

Wanda Emilie Farnes, the daughter of Walter and Caroline (Lange) Gosch, was born September 12, 1937 in Milford, Iowa. She lived in various places in Iowa, Pennsylvania, New York, Arkansas and Texas before moving to Spirit Lake in 1974.

She was most interested in her family and loved them more than anything. She was an amazing cook, avid gardener, enjoyed travel, could build as well as any man and even had her own framing shop. She loved reading different types of books including cookbooks, hobbies, home improvement, building and novels.

Wanda passed away November 2, 2019 at Accura Healthcare in Spirit Lake at eighty-two years of age.

She is survived by her children, Joe Huffman of Spirit Lake, Jim Huffman (Lisa) of Spirit Lake, Jane Blum and Al Anderson of Estherville and Mark Farnes of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Tim Curry, Ashley Rebhuhn, Bobbie Julius, Susanne Peterson, Caroline Hauge, Kasey Huffman, Karson Huffman, Kaden Huffman, Kylo Huffman, Megan Farnes and Cory Farnes; and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many friends and family members whom she loved dearly.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Farnes; and Sara Fisher.
