Obituary of Richard Maranell
A funeral service for Richard "Dick" Maranell, age 88, of Milford, Iowa, will be held Monday, January 13, 2020, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Milford. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 12, 2020 from 3:00-5:00 PM at St. Joseph Parish Center in Milford.
Richard (Dick) Jesse Maranell, the son of Lois Mildred (Lorensen) and Jesse Franklin Maranell, was born June 22, 1931 in Round Lake, Minnesota. The family lived in Montgomery, Iowa for a short time and then moved to Milford, Iowa where he graduated from Milford High School. On May 19, 1951, Dick was married to Darlene Mae (Coffman) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She passed away in 2006. On September 27, 2008, Dick married Mitzi (Mary) Maranell in Milford, Iowa.
Dick lived in Milford most of his life where he owned and operated Maranell's Water Conditioning for over thirty years. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford, served on the Library Board for twenty-one years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, playing cards, mowing, his toys and was a lifetime reader. Dick gave a good home to many dogs and was considered a dog whisperer. He never met a dog he didn't like and they all loved him.
Dick passed away January 9, 2020 at the Spencer Hospital at eighty-eight years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Mitzi Maranell; children, Denise (Lonnie) Loring, David (Bonnie) Maranell, Debra Maranell and Donald (Mary) Maranell; grandchildren, Jessica (Terveer) Ranslow, Jaci Maranell and Sam Maranell; great-grandchildren, Kylan and Shelby; sister, Diane (Dan) Brumley and their family; brother, Charles (Jean) Maranell and their family; many other family and friends including Mitzi's children and grandchildren who he cherished.
Dick was preceded in death by his first wife, Darlene Mae (Coffman) Maranell and his parents, Jesse and Lois Maranell.
