Obituary of Gladys Walters

A funeral service for Gladys Walters, age 86, of Milford, will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 1:30PM at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Burial will be at Milford Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, February 17th from 5:00-7:00PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Gladys Marie Walters was born in Marcus, Iowa on April 11, 1933 in the home of her parents, Joe and Mildred Broblek. The third of five daughters. Her Polish heritage served her well, as she grew into a determined, high energy, frugal young woman. While raising five children she managed to further her education in the nursing field, became a Real Estate Broker, operated her own business (the G&E Drive-In located on the south end of Milford and well known for it's Tavern Sandwich and Coney Dogs). She also became a patient advocate at a local nursing home where her mother was a resident for many years. She was united in marriage to Robert (Bib) Walters on April 28, 1974 and together they formed Walters Real Estate which they operated until 1996. Gladys passed away February 13, 2020 at her home in Milford at eighty-six years of age. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Diane Plante (Lenny Grady) of Spencer, Iowa, Nancy (Marlyn) Ellis of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Douglas (Ginny) McIntire of Milford, Iowa, David McIntire of Milford, Iowa and Beverly (Dan) Jorns of Keller, Texas; nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; step-sons, Kirb Walters of Milford, Iowa and John (Deb) Walters of Milford, Iowa; sisters, Mary Peterson of Marcus, Iowa, Betty (Harold) Kaiser of Crestview, Florida and Joann Fenn of Montrose, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bib) Walters of thirty-seven years. Her father and mother, Joe and Mildred Broblek and sister, Dorothy Norris.
