Obituary of Shirley Boles

A private family burial for Shirley Boles, 88, of Milford will be held at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park. Shirley Mae Boles, the daughter of Ida (Wilson) and Glen Eckard, was born January 10, 1932, in Milford, Iowa. She graduated from Okoboji Consolidated High School. On October 7, 1949, Shirley was united in marriage to Roy Boles. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Sheryl and Larry. The family lived on a farm southwest of Milford until 1963. In 1963 the family moved to a farm south of Lake Park. After the loss of their son and retiring from farming in 2007, Shirley and Roy moved to Spirit Lake. Shirley was baptized and a long time member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Spirit Lake. Shirley enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting crocheting and collecting thimbles. Every family member knew to bring Shirley a thimble when they traveled! She truly loved being a farm wife, mother and grandmother. Shirley passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Accura Healthcare in Milford at eighty-eight years of age. She is survived by her daughter, Sheryl (Brad) Jones; grandchildren, Bill (Shelly) Boles, B.J. (Jena) Boles, Barry (Angela) Boles and Hannah Jones; six great-grandchildren, Brooke (Tony), Jodan (Jericho), Brody, Cooper, Natasha and Cainen; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Davis and several nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Ida; husband, Roy; son, Larry; sisters, Elaine Watkins and Melba Warburton; brother, Duane Eckard and three nephews.
