Obituary of Shirley Huffman
A graveside service for Shirley Huffman, age 83, of Spirit Lake, will be held Friday, September 18, 2020 at 2:00PM at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 17 from 5:00-7:00PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Lake Park.
Shirley Rae Huffman, daughter of Lester and Ravina (Raveling) Hintze, was born April 25, 1937 in Worthington, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and in 1955, graduated from Sioux Valley High School.
On March 10, 1978, Shirley was married to Jerry Huffman in Lake Park, Iowa. They lived in Wall Lake, Iowa, Cottonwood, Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada before moving to Spirit Lake four years ago in order to be close to family and friends.
Shirley loved bowling and traveled to many national bowling tournaments. Her team won the Iowa State tournament and Shirley's over all high score was 289. Jerry and Shirley enjoyed traveling in their motorhome to Yuma, Arizona and Bullhead City, Arizona meeting new friends. Shirley loved to dance at the Sioux Valley Log Cabin which her parents owned and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports.
Shirley passed away September 14, 2020 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at eighty-three years of age.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jerry; daughter, Debbie Ahrenstorff of Spirit Lake; son, Keith Ahrenstorff of Estherville, Iowa; grandchildren, Joe (Melody) Ihnen of Minneapolis and Kim (Cory) Zweibahmer of Milford; great-grandchildren, Kaden Zweibahmer, Brennan Baschke Ihnen, Kinzlee Zweibahmer and Oliver Ihnen; step-children, Susan (Howard) Swestka of La Porte City, Iowa, Julie Pauly of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Robin (Roman) Garcia of Chino, California and Chris (Carla) Huffman of Cedar Falls, Iowa; step-grandchildren, Ben, Lindsey, Robert, Brandon, Jaxson, Natalie and Jessica; step-great-granddaughter, Vivian; her fur baby, Bibi; and many family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Les and Ravina Hintze; son, Brian Ahrenstorff; grandson, Blake Schierholt; step-son-in-law, Jeff Pauly.
