Obituary of Lois N. Johnson

There will be a private family funeral service for Lois N. Johnson, 94, of Lake Park at United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. Interment will be at Silver Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to : United Methodist Church 1812 Gary Avenue, Spirit Lake, Iowa  51360.

Lois Nadine Johnson, the daughter of Jeff and Ethel (Wood) Lago, was born July 5, 1926, in May City, Iowa. Lois graduated from Excelsior Country School in 1944 and in that same year, she married Harvey Johnson. After Harvey's tour of duty in the military, they made their home in Lake Park, Iowa.

In 1959, Lois was hired to work at Berkley's in Spirit Lake, Iowa and she remained there until her retirement in 1989. Lois was a sports fan and enjoyed playing golf and bowling. She enjoyed cooking, baking and always was looking for a new recipe to try. Her potato salad was always a hit at family gatherings. Lois also enjoyed crocheting, making doilies, doing crossword and picture puzzles. She had a love for flowers and her pet dogs but most of all her family.

Lois passed away March 11, 2021, at Pearl Valley Nursing Home in Lake Park, Iowa where she had been living since June, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Johnson; parents, Jeff and Ethel Lago; brothers, Lowell, Wayne and Don Lago; sisters, Irene Waage Helmers, Joanne Wunder and infant sister, Janice.

Lois is survived by her two sons, Dennis and Jeff; grandchildren Ryan J., Sam J., George J. and Chariti H. and her great-grandchildren; one sister, Arlis Bruett and nieces, nephews and cousins.
