Obituary of Sarah Uittenbogaard
Funeral services for Sarah Uittenbogaard, age 99, of Lake Park, will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park. Burial will be in the Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
Sarah Gertrude (Van Aalsburg) Uittenbogaard, the daughter of Gerrit and Sarah (Steenhoven) Van Aalsburg, was born on December 16, 1921, in rural Sheldon, Iowa.
Growing up, Sarah attended school until she had to help her family financially.
On December 27, 1944, Sarah was united in marriage to William (Bill) Uittenbogaard in Sheldon.
During her life, Sarah was a farm wife and homemaker. She and Bill farmed in Sioux County, Iowa for three years then farmed another three years at Round Lake, Minnesota. They then moved to a farm in Sioux Valley, Minnesota where they farmed until 1979 and then retired to Lake Park, Iowa.
After moving to town, Sarah worked at Boyers Grocery store and the City Market. Sarah was active in her community by volunteering at the Lake Park Care Center as well as being a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park where she taught Sunday school and belonged to the Women’s Organization. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Sarah passed away on September 21, 2021, and will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Marcia (Vern) Hanson of Mankato, Minnesota and JoAn (David) Kinrade of Newnan, Georgia; five grandchildren: Jodi (Trent) Schema of Faribault, Minnesota; Gina (Brandon) Jaeger of Janesville, Minnesota; Eric (Corie) Hanson of Mankato, Minnesota; Emily Carnes of Newnan, Georgia; Rachel Kinrade of Atlanta, Georgia; seven great-grandchildren: Katlyn & Hunter Jaeger, Carson & Grifin Schema, Isabelle & Tanner Hanson, and Harper Rae Carnes; extended family and friends.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 2003 and her daughter, Sharon, in 2012.
