I didn't know until this moment that my very beloved cousin Dick has passed but I guessed on the silence he was not good or gone Home. I loved this man deeply. He was our most wonderful Cousin Dick and thru 2020 starting years before, I called and talked often to him. His life may have had its challenges but he was the most gentle, kind, loving cousin anyone could ask for. His spirit is reflected in my grandson and I loved every call and every moment my sister Cindy and I shared as he dutifully watched over us each summer that we spent with our Aunt Artie. Dick was an incredible gift from God, he was amazing! In his later years we reconnected and spent many hours talking family, life and anything he wanted to chat about. I'm forever sad that I didn't know he passed as when our mom passed in 2005, he blessed me with wonderful memories he had of her. My heart is so sad I wasn't there to honor him as the amazing gift he was. My prayers and thoughts with his amazing brother who took such great care of him. I know my cousin knows I love him, loved him and will forever miss our silly, and fun calls. What a gentle reflection of God was he.

For many years I knew Dick as my family grew up on a farm owned by his father east of Spirit Lake. Dick was a happy visitor to the farm, always helpful as he saw opportunity. While my paths led me from from Spirit Lake, I was glad to hear about his community spirit each time I visited my parents, Glea and Twylla Lloyd. I’ll always recall an exciting 4th of July fireworks celebration with Skip and Dick in a far pasture when all of us were much younger. All my condolences to the Welty family for a life well lived.

I met Dick when I was 18 back in the 70s thru CB Radio at the height of the CB craze and remained friends with him long afterwards.

Dick was indeed a good guy. I met him when I was just a tenderfoot in Boy Scouts. He always was there when anyone needed him. In fact he was a pallbearer at my mother's funeral. KB and Jo were great people too. RIP my friend.

So sorry for your loss. My parents rented farm ground from Kenneth and Josephine for years. I met Dick as a child and stayed friends. He was a special sole. Rest in peace dear friend.

I lived across from Dick in the late 60's when I was a young child. Dick, Tim Block and I were pretty much inseparable for a couple of years, raking leaves, picking up sticks, just having fun. He was always so sweet and even years later, we would meet and visit about those years. We lost Tim in the mid 1980's and Dick always commented about his passing.
Rest in Peace dear friend.
