So sad to see this! He was a dedicated educator who loved being in a classroom of students subbing more that most things after retirement! I taught music at RLB and I always enjoyed catching up with him for a visit now and then outside his home during the summers. My deepest sympathy to the family!

I had Roger as my Physics teacher at Spencer High School in 1971. He was far and away my favorite teacher in high school. His passion for the subject was incredible and he was great at getting students involved. Very saddened to hear of his passing.

Mr. Lahm was one of my favorite teachers and probably learned the most from at SV-RL-B! His helium balloon story was our classes favorite and in 2006 when I graduated we gave him 32 I believe red helium balloons and boy did he love that! You left an memorable impression on our class Mr. Lahm!

Hi my name is Rianna. I am a 9th grade student at okoboji schools and this is truly the saddest news I heard. He was an amazing sub and will be dearly missed by all of my fellow class mates. He was the sweetest man I had ever met. I and the rest of my grade are truly sorry for your loss.

Roger was a great brother-in-law! He is the third brother-in'law I have lost and like Danny, John, and now Roger! The world will miss 3 great guys, who left a great legacy for their children to follow! Gone from this life too early, but will be remembered for the rest of my life! God Speed!

Karen,
Roger was a great brother-in-law and we spent a great deal of time together over your 43 years with him. We always discussed everything from Politcs to Religion and on and on. It was always enjoyable sharing each other thoughts and beliefs. The times we went boating and fishing will always be special. I can't believe he's gone, but he will always be remembered.
Love you,
John Norman

Karen and family, Roger was one of the first teacher negotiators that I met when I started to work for ISEA. I learned so much from him in those early years. I’m so glad the we became friends outside of school because that led me to a friendship with you. Sending sincere sympathies to all at this difficult time. Roger will be missed by so many.

Roger wore many hats and wore them well. Karen and family, I am so sorry for your loss. He was a great colleague so well respected by his students and fellow staff members. I was happy to have known him as a colleague and a customer when you had the store at the mall. As many have said, his sense of humor and stories/poems were amazing. He will be missed by many. May many memories help all of you through this difficult time.

Mr. Lahm was my chemistry and physics teacher at Spencer High School in the 1970s. He was a great instructor who truly made learning fun. I will never forget him tracking me down in the student center to convince me to sign up for Physics my senior year after initially planning to take accounting. Not only was I one of only two girls in the class, I was the first person - male or female - whose comet successfully orbited the sun! He was an inspiration to me, and I'm sure that was true of many others.
