Obituary of Beverly Taylor

A Private Family Service for Beverly Taylor, age 79, of Spirit Lake will be held at a later date.

Beverly B. Harpole-Taylor of Spirit Lake went to heaven April 7, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Bev was born June 18, 1942. Her parents were Claude and Melvina Harpole. She was raised in Spirit Lake and graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1960. Shortly after graduation she married Dan Gildemeister, her former spouse, and they had a daughter.

Bev lived most of her life on Balboa Island, CA where she enjoyed singing in the church choir, trips to Catalina Island, and relaxing at the Newport Beach Yacht Club watching the boats go by. She was also a member of the Balboa Island Patio Chair Drill Team. After many years in California, she returned to Spirit Lake in 2018 and made her home at Accura Healthcare Spirit Lake. Although she hated the cold Iowa winters, she did enjoy Sunday outings to Arby’s, music and animals, and her favorite, chocolate chip cookies. Anything chocolate brought a big smile to her face.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Mark. 

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tracy (Steve) Schnell of Spirit Lake; grandchildren: Taylor (John) DenBeste, Ryleigh (Sam) Schnell, Nick Schnell; and great-grandson, Henry.
