This sad news was passed on to me today. I knew Angie in high school as a classmate and track teammate. I remember her as a nice, fun, and energetic person. I see from the picture posted that she still has the same beautiful smile. Despite not seeing her for 30 years I recognized her right away. My condolences to your family.

Matt, Noah & Sam,
I remember when I first met Angie; she came into my computer store to sell me ads in a northwest Iowa newspaper. I told her I would never buy any ads from that paper because my business was very local and this reached out to the Sioux City area. We visited for a little while and not only did I offer her a job, but I also bought an ad for the next three months in that newspaper. Little did I know that it was going to be a long term working relationship that turned into a successful partnership that then turned into a lifelong friendship.
There was something about putting together a balding, crazy baby boomer and very strong-willed, talented and energetic female. We both knew that there was something about this Internet that we wanted to harness into a business. We didn't know what, so we just grew it one idea at a time.
The good thing is that we had some great ideas, and along with great employees we built a successful website and Internet marketing business. Our employees told us that they loved coming to work and that there was always something new going on that was creative and exciting.
Here's just a few random memories I have:
I remember starting our firm in an upstairs office above Steffen’s Furniture. We added Jarah Andrews in sales and then Jason Armand as a programmer. Interestingly, we went from that cramped little two room office and ended up in, in my humble opinion, the most prestigious office in downtown Spencer.
When we moved to the old dentist’s office, I remember we set up a little basketball area in the office and the boys and I wrestled and played basketball and we let Angie work. They were incredibly athletic and competitive then, and I see that they've continued that path to this day.
I remember having to be a buffer between Angie and the programmers; Angie and the web designers; Angie and the contractors. I really had a lot of fun buffering.
I remember that she was the buffer between Duane Hanson and me. That was such a difficult relationship, but because of her wisdom in making that work, it turned out to be very rewarding for everyone.
I remember her telling me that she was bringing her brother and his daughter from Florida to Spencer and that we needed to find a place for him in our business. I can tell you that Chad is the best employee I’ve ever had.
Buying and renovating the 1916 bank building didn’t have as much to do with our business as to our commitment to the town and embarking on an almost impossible project. Angie was in her glory working on the whole process of planning, contracting, and turning a rundown building into the cornerstone of Spencer’s downtown. She was a genius at getting us through the red tape keeping everything on target with historical and city codes. I give her the credit for carrying me along on that journey. By the way, I’ll take credit for rehiring all the contractors she fired.
Unfortunately, I remember her telling me that she needed to dissolve our partnership because she needed to turn her attention to her family as they were moving to Spirit Lake. Ending our partnership ended a great display of teamwork and probably ended a lot of great creative ideas. The office was never the same after that.
She left a void in my life at that time and now Matt, Noah and Sam. You have even a greater void in your lives. I pray that you will find comfort in your great memories of your wife and mom.
Grief never ends, it changes.
It's a passage, not a place to stay.
Grief is not a sign of weakness or lack of faith.
It is the price of love.
Matt, Noah and Sam, as long as you live, Angie will live on through you.
Tim & Mary Frank
