Alta was what I call a "sleeper". She may have been small in stature but there was nothing diminutive about her outlook on life. She always had a smile and even a laugh for those she encountered. She was truly a happy person, something that can't often be said about most people that have reached their 100th birthday! Although I didn't get to spend a lot of time around Alta in recent years, when I visited with her last, she was being cared for in an assisted living apartment near my brother-in-law and sister, David and Julie Nodland. They took such good care of Alta after she moved and left her condo at Ft Myers Beach and the fact that she was so close by gave them both a lot of comfort. Julie would tell me how much the staff there loved Alta. It was not hard to imagine why! She had such an accepting heart and progressive spirit.. It's no wonder she lived to be 102 years old! Of course she missed Tory so much but she never complained about that, or anything else for that matter. Her faith and her positive outlook on life are just two of the many positive attributes that I will miss when I think about Alta. The world has lost a great lady and she will be dearly missed by so many who had the pleasure of knowing Alta Nodland.

What an amazing lady! She always had that sweet smile on her face with squinted eyes. Even though she was a “few” inches shorter than your dad you knew who was in charge. I always enjoyed her conversations and letters. God’s blessings to all! Rest In Peace Alta you deserve it.
