Obituary of Ruth Ann Caroline Smith

A memorial service for Ruth Smith, 84, of Harris, will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 12:00pm at Good News Community Church in Okoboji.

Ruth Ann Caroline Smith, the daughter of Edward and Catherine (Kemmeter) McGlin, was born March 12, 1938 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

On December 3, 1958, Ruth was married to Henry Moses Smith Jr. and the couple made their home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1998, Ruth moved to Harris, Iowa. She was an active member and volunteer at Good News Community Church in Okoboji, enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her family.

Ruth passed away December 3, 2022 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at eighty-four years of age.

She is survived by her son, Milton Smith, of Harris, Iowa; daughters, Kim Marie Green of Ohio, Teresa Ann Smith of Milford, Iowa and Carol Ann Biggs of Lake Park, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Dakota Smith, Fabian Urioste, Morio Urioste, Christopher Green, Constance Jacqueline Green, Victoria Martin, Erika Clubs, Scott G. Smith and Ann Marie Smith; one sister, Cecilia BaShaw of Wisconsin.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Catherine McGlin; four brothers, John McGlin Edward McGlin, Robert McGlin and Kenneth McGlin; three sisters, Margaret McGlin, Joann McGlin and Mary ValleJo; grandson, Jonathan Henry Smith.
