Obituary of Beverly (Sauer) Wittler
A Memorial Service for Beverly (Sauer) Wittler, age 76, of Spirit Lake will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 11:00am at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00-11:00am at the church in West Okoboji. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Bonnie Knight. Memorials will benefit Beverly's favorite charities.
Beverly Jean (Sauer) Wittler was born March 24, 1947, at the Hand Hospital in Hartley, Iowa to Russel Neil Sauer and Gladys May (Fechter) Sauer. Bev passed on to her true home in Heaven on March 24, 2023, at the age of seventy-six years at Accura Healthcare of Spirit Lake.
Bev grew up in the Hartley, Iowa area except for a few short years on a farm near Mt. Lake, Minnesota when she was young. Bev graduated from Hartley Community High School in 1964 where she was in several activities, her favorite being concert and marching band. Bev also graduated from the Texas School of Massage Studies in Austin, Texas in 1987. She was baptized and confirmed at the Hartley United Methodist Church. She is currently a member of the First Lutheran Church in Milford, Iowa. She was also a member of the Order of Rainbow for girls through her junior high and high school years where she earned the Grand Cross of Color.
Bev married Vernon William Wittler on June 3, 1989, at her parent's home in Wahpeton, Iowa. Their son Jeffery Russel Wittler was born on September 4, 1987, in Round Rock, Texas. Jeff was the light of Bev and Vern's lives. Sadly, Jeff passed away on October 9, 2010.
Through the years Bev has resided in Estherville, Spencer, Des Moines, Milford and Spirit Lake, Iowa as well as Arlington, Virginia and Austin, Texas.
Bev was employed through the years as a legal secretary, lowa Department of Public Health, a civilian employee for the United States Marine Corps, Iowa Civil Defense Division, Iowa Dept. of Human Services, Ramada Inns, Texas Academy of Familv Physicians and lastly as a medical records technician at Lakes Regional Healthcare for twenty-three years.
Through the years Bev enjoyed music, reading, nature, traveling, good movies, going to Jeff's activities at school, being with and enjoying her family and friends and had found much satisfaction in helping other parents who had lost their children.
Preceding Beverly in death were her son, Jeffrey, her father, Russel, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elmer and Bernice Wittler, her brother-in- law, Roger Wittler.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Vernon, mother, Gladys Sauer, brother Larry Sauer (Chris), sister Bonnie (Tim) Knight, brother-in-law Dale Wittler (Gloria), brother-in-law Larry Wittler (Bev), nieces and nephews Mathew Sauer, Jessica Sauer-Miller, Kayla Knight, Joseph Knight, Michael Wittler and Kristina Leggett and their families, great nieces and nephews Leah Sauer, Justice and Malik Miller, Kaden and Kenna Sauer and Brooke and Reece Leggett. Also surviving are many other relatives and friends.
May Bev rest in God's peace knowing that she is happy to be reunited with Jeff and Russel in their home in Heaven.
