Obituary of Michael Oconnor

A Celebration of Life for Michael Oconnor, age 69, of Lake Park will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 3:00pm at Gundersons in Lake Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to be used towards a memorial bench.

Michael Wallace Oconnor, the son of Wallace and Jeanie (Prell) Oconnor, was born on January 12, 1954 in Buffalo, New York. He passed away on April 18, 2023 in Lake Park.

Michael was a great mechanic at his family garage called Morrells and had a long career in Aerospace as a pattern maker for 30 years. He had a passion for photography and was an incredibly intelligent person. He could beat anyone at trivia and always had a dad joke at the ready. 

Michael loved camping and fire pits, shooting guns, and gardening. He was a jack of all trades and could build anything. He was an amazing father who taught his son, Brandon, and grandsons how to fix cars in his dads' footsteps. 

He will be deeply missed. 

Those left to cherish his memory include the love of his life, Tammy O'Connor; Aime Cilliers of Lake Park, Iowa; Amber Hammond of San Diego, California; Brandon Mahin of Dallas, Texas; Heather Dennis (niece); 13 grandkids, 12 great-grandkids; extended family and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Wally and Jeanie O'Connor; sister, Linda Van Wickel; and his brothers, Pat and Kelly O'Connor.
