Obituary of Donald Christoffer Jr.

Private family graveside services will be held for Donald Christoffer Jr., age 81, of Spirit Lake.

Donald passed away on August 21, 2023. 

Donald Frank Christoffer, Jr., son, brother, uncle, friend was born in Petersburg, Minnesota on September 30, 1941, the son of Donald Frank Christoffer, Sr. and Frances Marie Deming. He was one of six children, four boys and two girls. He grew up on farms and then the family moved to Spirit Lake, where he attended and graduated from Spirit Lake High School. 

Donnie worked at Red Owl Grocery and made many lifelong friends. He was drafted into the U.S. Army where his final assignment was Fort Wainwright in Alaska. He was a radio technologist and loved his service time in Alaska.

Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army, Don made his home in Spirit Lake where he worked for the telephone company. He then joined his father in the lawn mower sales and service, eventually taking over the operation upon his father's death. He also gave loving support to his mother until she passed away.

One of his favorite hobbies was traveling to the western mountain states, Yellowstone and all the other scenic locations. He hunted waterfowl with the help of his two black labs, King and Jet, who were a part of our family.

Donnie, you are loved and will be greatly missed.
