Joan was my college teacher at Westmar College. We even played on an AAU team together along with Norma Schwartz and Carmen Maas. We would travel all over the Midwest on the weekends playing teams. We traveled in her little Renault car. The team was from Sioux City Iowa....... Great memories.....

I remember the first time we saw Joan hitting golf balls into the lake and I thought.... What a powerful swing. The storm that took out lake front trees had Joan out first thing with a chain saw. She sure knew what she was doing. Watching the sun set. Laughing. Teasing the kids. Joan twinkled and shared our lake lives. Her spirit is at Spirit!! We will miss you so.

It is with fond memories I reflect upon Ms. Heidrick being my gym teacher at Bridgeview Elementary. After I had left Bridgeview she actually contacted me and I helped work a couple of her basketball camps. She was direct at times, but you had to be with ornery little boys, but truly she had a heart of gold. It was odd, about 10 years after I had seen her last I pulled over in some non-descript town in the middle of no where for gas and snacks and she recognized me as she had retired from school and was working at the convenience mart. It was nice to have seen her again.

She was an awesome woman, and I can't say that I miss the challenges she made us do in P.E. Rest in peace.
