Obituary of Lucas Ove
A Funeral Service for Lucas Ove, age 23, of Spirit Lake will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 10:30am at Downtown Church in Milford. Interment will be at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 5:00-7:00pm at the Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.
Lucas Anthony Ove was born on March 17, 2000, in Spirit Lake, the beloved son of Adam John Whiting and Angela Lynne Ove.
Lucas's early years were marked by his vibrant spirit. As a young boy, he embraced trying new things such as basketball, soccer, taekwondo, and drum lessons. His zest for life carried into his teenage years where he thoroughly enjoyed longboarding and skipping school with his friends. In 2018, he proudly graduated from Spirit Lake High School even though he skipped school.
Professionally, Lucas worked as a lawn care technician at TruGreen. Yet, his true passion lay in his role as a devoted father and a shining example for his children: Silas, Mahalia, and Lakai. Lucas's unwavering commitment to his family and his fiancé, Jenny Scott, was evident in every moment he spent with them. The joy he brought to their lives was immeasurable, and his presence was a source of comfort and happiness.
Lucas was not only a dedicated family man but also a gifted musician, with a profound ability to express himself through words and melody. His talent was bound for greatness, and his music will forever echo the depth of his emotions.
Nature and animals held a special place in Lucas's heart, reflecting his deep appreciation for the world around him. Additionally, he found comfort in poetry, using it to convey his innermost thoughts and feelings. He had a smile that would induce a smile in return. Lucas cherished his relationships with family and friends. His belief in love, joy, light, happiness, and equality for all was unwavering.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Silas Heath Erb, Mahalia Oshun Ove, Lakai Adam Ove; father, Adam John Whiting and mother, Angela Lynne Ove (step-dad, Nate Cole); fiancé, Jenny Scott; siblings: Trey Phillips, Cecelia Hansen, Ayishah Villarreal, Ayiannah Whiting, Ayilexus Whiting, Mya Jo Whiting, Trevon Whiting, Marshall Whiting, Nayilah Whiting; grandparents: Bob and Shelia Ove, Vickie Coria; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
Lucas was preceded in death by his great-grandparents: Roberta and Bernhand Ove; great-grandma, Betty Roy; aunt, Sandy Evaro; grandpa, Jonnie Thomas II; great-grandma, Carolyn Whiting; and uncle, Bill Whiting.
