Obituary of Jim Heim

A memorial service for Jim Heim, age 74 of Spirit Lake, will be held Friday, February 9, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Milford.

James Albert Heim, the son of Leo and Juliana (Schulte) Heim was born April 23, 1949 in Carroll, Iowa. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Auburn, Iowa. 

Jim lived in Colorado, Arizona and Minnesota before moving to Spirit Lake, Iowa in 1994. He worked in the asphalt business throughout his career.

He loved fishing on Big Spirit Lake in the summer and winter, deer hunting during second season and spending time with friends and family. He was known for telling many fish stories while having fish fries and was honored to teach his grandchildren how to fish and hunt. Jim was a kind hearted person who would help anyone.

Jim passed away February 6, 2024 at Accura Healthcare in Spirit Lake at seventy-four years of age.

He is survived by his daughters, Angela Fodness of Spirit Lake and Carrie (Randy) Franklin of Harris, Iowa; brothers, Roger (Barb) Heim of Lenox, Iowa, Kenny (Dixie) of Des Moines, Iowa and Mike Heim of Aurora, Colorado; sisters, Joanne (Bill) Heim of Des Moines and Doris (Ron) Monson of Lake View, Iowa; grandchildren, Nicklas Fodness, Samantha (Joe) Lowman, Makayla Heim and Dakota Carey; great-grandchildren, Zayden and Saige Lowman.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Juliana Heim; siblings, Louis, Marieta, Denis and Ronnie.
