Obituary of Colleen Simmons

Services for Mrs. Colleen Simmons of Fort Myers, Florida and formerly of Milford, Iowa will be held Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford, Iowa. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Milford. The family will receive guests at the funeral home after 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014 until the time of the service. Colleen passed away in Houston, Texas at the age of seventy-seven. She was the daughter of long-time area resident, Floyd Lamb who died in 2004 and daughter of Margaret Lamb who passed away in 1940. Colleen was born in Spirit Lake in 1937 and attended Milford High School. She lived and worked in the Lakes area until 1983 when she moved to Ft. Myers, Florida. While living in Milford she worked for most of her career at Berkley and Company rising over the years to the position of Manager of Customer Service. In Florida she shifted her career by attending a local community college and earned an Associate of Arts degree in accounting. For the majority of her time in Florida, she worked for various banks but ultimately performed financial management responsibilities for a local business man who owns and operates four restaurants. Colleen retired from work when she was seventy six years old and moved to Houston. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Don and Gloria Lamb from Milford and four children; Jim who lives in Estherville, Iowa; David from Washington, DC; Glenn from Houston, TX; and Jeanne from St. Paul, MN.
